AMD to cut workforce

The US-American chipmaker AMD has announced to cut its workforce by 10%.

AMD announced that the expected revenues for Q1/08 will be $1.5 billion, which falls short of market expectations. The company employs around 16,500 employees worldwide. The cutback of 10% means that around 1600 employees will have to go. The restructuring is said to start this month and is expected to be finished in September this year. However, finalised details are yet to be announced.
